Lavish & Lime - Every Purchase Plants a Tree

Lavish & Lime is an "online boutique," created by a husband and wife team who wanted to make eco-friendly products easier to find for the green conscience consumer. It all started with the research and preparation for their growing family.

"When the girls came along – like most new parents – we started thinking more about ingredients, materials and the impact we were having on the environment with diapers, baggies, etc. We found there were lots of great eco-friendly products out there, just not necessarily readily available – and Lavish & Lime was borne."
Louise, of Lavish & Lime (True Cuddles interview

Here is just a sampling of some of the greener attributes (for you and the planet) of products for sale at Lavish & Lime -- Lead-free wooden toys, PVC-free bags, Chemical-free beauty supplies, 100% Biodegradable sporting accessories, Water-conserving timers, Organic skin care, Reclaimed jewelry.

Not only will you feel good about living a little greener with these safe and healthy products for your family and loved ones, but a tree is planted with every purchase you make. Lavish & Lime partners with the non-profit organization, Trees for the Future, to continue to pay it forward to our planet and the people who enjoy it. Make-At-Home Beauty Products

In the past several years, my husband and I have been making big strides in embracing a healthier lifestyle. Much of our effort has involved eating organic and local foods, and recently we've started purging toxic household cleaning products from our home. As I mentioned in a previous entry, I will post on the details of all this later, including recipes for home-made cleaning products.

But today I found a great little post over at Keeper of the Home that I wanted to share. Written by Angela Beery, the post discusses some of the concerns regarding traditional hygiene/beauty products and includes recipes for make your own. Hop on over and check it out.

On another note, I'm currently right in the middle of experimenting with a soaked grain homemade bread recipe. In fact, it's rising literally right beneath my nose, so I'm inhaling the intoxicating aroma and can't wait to pop it into the oven to bake. I will post the recipe, as well as the benefits of soaking grains shortly. Just wanted to give you a little inside peak!

Pamper Baby Naturally

With so much hype about the dangers of pesticides and chemical additives in everything from our food to our skincare to our clothing, it's no wonder concerned moms are choosing organic skincare products to smooth on little ones. One of our faves ... California Baby. Made from organic, sustainably grown, all natural ingredients, California Baby offers a complete line of washes, moisturizers, diaper care, suncare and more that is gentle enough to use on your littlest tot. Most rave worthy: the Calming Botanical Moisturizing Cream. Good for a newborn's sensitive, dry skin, the rich cream also works wonders for babies with eczema. Trust us! This tried-and-true formulation clears up even the worst cases. Get it at Target, Whole Foods and Central Market.
